W&H Peacock’s next sale on September the 3rd will include an important mantle timepiece designed by Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) for the Wiener Werkstatte. The simple brass movement supports an enamelled dial in a silvered case of stepped rectangular form. Marked for the Wiener Werkstatte, stamped ‘Made in Austria’ and bearing the monogram of Josef Hoffmann, the timepiece stands 22cm high and is expected to realise between £5,000 and £8,000.
