Featured Lot
A white metal Celtic style cross/pendant by Henry George Murphy set four moonstones and incorporating his initials into the central motif, the reverse stamped on a lozenge with his initials HGM, in its original fitted case also marked with his Falcon trading mark Est £1000 - £1500

* Henry George Murphy
b. 1884 d. 10th July 1939
In 1898 he was an apprentice to Henry Wilson and in 1909 became a teacher at The Royal College of Art. In 1912 he went to work with Emil Lettre in Berlin, returning to London the following year. He later worked at the London County Council Central School of Arts & Crafts under Augustus Stewart whom he succeeded in 1932 and he was later appointed principal of the school. He opened workshops at 58 Weywouth Street, W1 entitled The Falcon Studio where he was listed as a silversmith and a craftsman in fine metals. He later moved to 22 High Street, Marylebone, W1
