Alexander Warffield of London (1692-1719): a William and Mary longcase clock, the eight-day movement striking on a bell, the hood with gilding across the top, floral marquetry to the sides and barley twist supports, enclosing the silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, date aperture and secondary dial surrounded by brass spandrels, within a walnut and crossbanded case with intricate marquetry and a glazed central panel.
Provenance: The vendor purchased the clock from the auctioneers in 1980. Prior to that it was the property of the Osborn family of Chicksands Priory- it is understood to have been in the family’s possession since new
