A Swiss music box consigned from a local deceased estate was a highlight at our recent Specialist Antiques sale. Two days after the catalogue was published online we had three phone lines booked and 25 condition report requests. On the day, the auctioneer (Robert Hickerton) asked for £10,000 which- despite gasps and giggles in the room- was immediately taken up by the internet. After three minutes, a room bidder (who had arrived and registered that morning) had taken the internet all the way to £31,500 and won the lot.  The auctioneer said ‘This is exactly the sort of find which makes auctioneering such an exciting profession.
